Why should shingles be recycled?

Roofing shingles can be recycled, reducing the amount of construction waste in lanfills. Recycled material made from old roofing shingles can be used in a variety of projects. Instead of throwing away, dumping, or burying old roofing shingles, bring them to us to be recycled.

Recycled asphalt shingles can be used to decrease the cost of filling potholes & repairing roads which can help reduce the burden of road maintenance for taxpayers.

How recycling shingles makes a positive impact

Energy Recovery

Shingles have an energy content of as much as 20,000 BTU per pound. Every ton of asphalt shingles that is recycled reduces the need for oil by 2 barrels.

Economically Viable

Recycling asphalt shingles is more cost effective than dumping them in a landfill. Significantly reduced fees create savings for roofing contractors that are passed on to the customers. Recycling saves taxpayers over $300 million each year-and contractors save too!

Reduces Waste

Today, about 75% of the roofs in the U.S. are protected with asphalt shingles and only about 10% of those roofs are reused or recycled. It can take 400 years to break down asphalt shingles and more than 11 million tons end up in the landfill every year.
